Schechter and I fascinate about clothes. While I sit here in my jeans and shirt Schechter is in Paris or Milan wearing Yves Saint Laurent and Chanel. We dream the same dreams. Filled with color and beautiful people but her dreams are reality. Schechter is noted for her risk taking style and classic elegance. She wears studded Balmain dresses like normal people wear jeans. We both read Vogue. Dogearring the pages with the hottest shoes and the prettiest dresses. Schechter sometimes consumes me and I’ll be online for hours scouring online closets and blogs looking for the newest trends.
Schechter comes and goes. At a lavish affair she’ll be the life of the party. Everyone will ask her where she got her dress. She’ll tell them it’s Versace and they all nod in jealous envy. I’m sitting in the corner wishing I was her.

Palmer thinks that this piece is very well written. I like the description of the clothing.
ReplyDeleteI think this piece is wonderful because Lippman thinks you know what you are talking about. Clothes make the man, the woman and Schechter understands this. So did I. Lippman does not even know what kind of shirt he owns.
ReplyDeleteGruber found the piece interesting but had difficulty becoming fully immersed after he noticed a few minor grammatical errors. I thought it was an informative and interesting piece of writing.
ReplyDeleteDemick and I think that this piece is whimsical and truly brings you around the world, following Schechter on her wild fashion adventures. Demick is sure that anyone who reads this wishes they had those lavish clothes and were surrounded by beautiful people. It really pulls the reader in.
ReplyDeletecharlie enjoyed the fluid writing
ReplyDeleteWest likes the way you write like you envy Schechter just as much as everyone else.

ReplyDeleteHarrington wonders why such time is spent on something so confounding. Why bother with looks.
ReplyDeleteI believe I understand. The search and understanding of something, in this case fashion, is not just an outward display. It is a real involvement, an interest.
Dynan likes how you are two different people but you are one person. I like that you have a passion for fashion.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy the common belief about clothes. I like this because fashion is often not a topic of discussion.
ReplyDeleteSteinberg and I see the passion that Schecter feels about fashion. Steinberg and I would both nod in jealous envy if we saw Schecter in a Versace dress as well. I kind of wish I could be Schecter too.
ReplyDeleteJaff and I appreciate the passion in the piece; they empathize with the sadness of "I", and she envies the glamour of Schechter. They understand thoroughly the worlds of both girls, and they soak up the truthfulness of the words.
ReplyDeleteI really like this blog post. Aswad loves to wear fashionable clothes while she plays the violin. When I do go shopping, Aswad loves trying on the stylish dresses.
ReplyDeleteJoseph enjoyed your piece it was light and playful in a nice way. I especially enjoyed the last sentnce of the first paragraph:
ReplyDelete"Schechter sometimes consumes me and I’ll be online for hours scouring online closets and blogs looking for the newest trends."
If Joseph were to offer one suggestion it would be to bring it all home and offer a more personal perspective.
